Bopsy is a set of movement games for children. We built it so that it does not collect anything about your child or your family. This page explains what the app does with the camera and what it keeps on your device.
In short: the camera picture is used live, on your device, to see how your child moves. It is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere. The app has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, no in-app purchases and no links out of the app, and it does not connect to the internet.
The camera
Kids play by moving their bodies: stepping, jumping, reaching, dancing, raising their hands. To see those moves the app uses the device's camera, with your permission.
- Each camera frame is processed on the device by Apple's built-in body-pose detection (the Vision framework). It finds the positions of body points such as the shoulders, wrists, hips and ankles. The game uses those positions as controls, for that moment only.
- Nothing is recorded or saved. No photos, video or body-tracking data are stored, and nothing leaves the device.
- During a game, the app can show the player on screen, cut out of the live camera picture (the "Show me" setting). That picture is drawn live and then discarded. If you have connected the device to a TV with AirPlay screen mirroring or a cable, the TV shows what the app shows. That connection is made and controlled by iOS, not by the app, and the app does not record or send anything itself.
- The app cannot identify who someone is. It does not recognise faces or people. It only tells bodies apart in the moment, for example to know which of two children is player 1.
You can turn camera access off at any time in the iPhone or iPad Settings → Bopsy → Camera. Every game can still be played with taps and swipes (Settings in the app → Controls → Touch).
What stays on the device
The app saves a few things in its own storage on the device (iOS UserDefaults), so they are there next time:
- the settings: age group (Little 3–5 / Big 6–9), round length, language, voice and sounds on or off, camera lens, controls (body or touch), "Show me", and how many children played last time;
- the best result for each game, and which game was played last.
These are not personal information, are never sent anywhere, and are deleted when you delete the app. If iCloud or device backups are turned on, they may be included in your own device backup, as all app settings are.
What we do not do
- We do not collect, store or share any personal information, from children or anyone else.
- No accounts, sign-in, names, email addresses or ages are asked for. (The age group is a difficulty setting chosen by a grown-up and stays on the device.)
- No advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting services, no third-party code (SDKs) that collects data.
- No tracking and no advertising identifier (IDFA).
- No in-app purchases, no links to websites, no social features, no chat.
- The app makes no network connections.
If you have chosen in iOS to share analytics with app developers (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage numbers. That is Apple's service, controlled by you in iOS; the app adds nothing to it.
Children's privacy (COPPA and GDPR)
Bopsy is made for children and is listed in the App Store's Kids category. Because the app collects no personal information from children, there is nothing to request parental consent for, nothing to review and nothing to delete under the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) or the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including its rules for children's data. We do not sell or share any data, because we do not have any.
Voice and music
The game's spoken instructions use a computer-generated (AI) voice, recorded ahead of time and built into the app. The app does not listen to the microphone and does not use speech recognition.
This website
This website has no cookies, no analytics, no ads and no trackers, and it doesn't ask you for anything. The fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google’s servers. Like any website, the server that hosts it may keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) for a short time, for security.
Changes to this policy
If a future version changes anything here, we will update this page and the date at the top before that version is released. We will not start collecting personal information from children.
